By default, WordCare requires no account and no login. Your documents, scans, and settings are stored locally on your device only, in an encrypted local database and your device's private app storage. We don't see or receive this data.
Creating an account is optional and only exists so your document history can later sync or be found across your devices. If you sign up, we (via Firebase Authentication, a Google service) store your email address, your display name (if provided), and a unique account identifier. We do not store your password — Firebase handles that securely and never gives it to us in readable form. Creating an account does not, by itself, upload your documents anywhere; that only happens if you separately enable a backup feature.
WordCare's handwriting-to-text feature runs entirely on your device (via your phone's own OCR engine — Google ML Kit on Android, Apple Vision on iOS). The photo you capture and the recognized text never leave your device for this feature.
A future "Improve with AI" option may send a captured image to a cloud AI provider to improve recognition accuracy, but only when you explicitly tap that button — never automatically. This section will be updated with the specific provider and data handling details before that feature is turned on.
If you choose to connect your own Google Drive (or another provider) for backup, your documents are uploaded to storage under your own account with that provider, governed by their privacy policy — not stored on our own servers. We do not access or read the contents of your backed-up files.
WordCare shows ads via Google AdMob to support free use of the app, unless you've bought the one-time Remove Ads purchase. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's own privacy policy.
We never sell your data. We never read the contents of your documents. We never require an account to use the App's core features.
Local data stays on your device until you delete it (or uninstall the App). If you created an account, you can request account deletion by contacting us at wordcare26@gmail.com — we'll delete your account record (email, display name, identifier) from Firebase within 30 days of your request.
WordCare is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We'll update the "Last updated" date whenever this policy changes, and post the updated version here and in the App.
